Clinical study of cases of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in a positive antigen test associated with acute urticaria
Takahiro KIYOMASU1)
This study retrospectively investigated cases of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M pneumoniae) infection in a positive antigen test associated with acute urticaria. One hundred and twenty-seven patients (57 female), who were aged from 1 to 15 years (median 6 years) and showed positive results for M. pneumoniae infection in the M pneumoniae antigen test, were enrolled from January 1 to December 31, 2016. Four female patients had acute urticaria and were treated with antibiotics, and three of them also were treated with the anti-histamine drugs. All four patients recovered shortly after treatment, with no relapse of urticaria. The M. pneumoniae antigen test may be effective for diagnosing M. pneumoniae infection and facilitating early treatment for acute urticaria associated with M. pneumoniae.
