A 24-day-old boy was admitted to our hospital with fever, rash, and apnea. Serum, urine and cerebrospinal fluid examination revealed almost normal results. He developed apnea attack and his respiratory failure was cared under artificial ventilation in intensive care unit for 4 days. HPeV-3 was detected from serum, cerebrospinal fluid, stool, and throat swab by RT-PCR later. HPeV-3 might cause severe infectious disease as meningitis and sepsis-like disease to neonates. HPeV-3 should be considered as a possible cause of apnea attack in neonates.
