Three hundred and ninety-five children were diagnosed with respiratory syncytial virus infection, and assessed for their clinical and epidemiological characteristics over a 6-year period from 2008 to 2013 in one pediatric clinic. Younger age tended to show lower maximum body temperature. Recently, this virus reached epidemic proportions in the months of July or August, and 3 eligible patients for palivizumab prophylaxis were diagnosed with respiratory syncytial virus infection. Unfortunately, 2 of them were infected immediately prior to palivizumab administration. Therefore, when to start palivizumab prophylaxis needs to be re-evaluated.
