Time-course changes of serum procalcitonin in children with bacteremia
Hiroshi SAKATA
Time-courses changes of serum procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were determined between January, 2011 and June, 2013 in 14 children, in whom significant bacterial growth was detected on their blood culture. The patients ranged in age from 4 days to 6 years. The positive (≥0.3 mg/dl) rate of serum CRP was 85.7% (95%CI: 57.2-98.2%) and the positive (≥0.5 ng/ml) rate of serum PCT was 71.4% (95%CI: 41.9-91.6%).
