Investigation of the resistant A (H1N1) pdm09 virus detected from a pediatric patient receiving oseltamivir

Takuya YANO

This study investigated the detection status of oseltamivir-resistant A (H1N1) pdm09 virus in Mie Prefecture from June 2009 to January 2013. From 215 A (H1N1) pdm09 virus strains, two were found to be oseltamivir-resistant, with a detection frequency of 0.93%. These two resistant strains were detected in cases in which oseltamivir was administered prophylactically and therapeutically. Continuous monitoring of resistant strains is required for preparation of a future resurgence of the A (H1N1) pdm09 virus.
