A case of Kawasaki disease with mediastinal lymphadenopathy in the acute phase
Koya KAWASE, Kaori AIBA, Norihisa KOYAMA
Kawasaki disease is an acute vasculitis of unknown cause. Cervical lymphadenopathy is a major symptom of Kawasaki disease. But other lymphadenopathies have been rarely reported. A three-year-old girl reported here had mediastinal lymphadenopathy in the acute phase of Kawasaki disease. Only two cases of Kawasaki disease with mediastinal lymphadenopathy have been reported previously. Including our case, all patients did not have cervical lymphadenopathy, and the mediastinal lymphadenopathies disappeared with treatment of aspirin and intravenous immunoglobulin. In addition, cardiac involvement was not found in all three cases.
