Yersinia Pseudotuberculosis (Y. pstb) causes gastroenteritis and shows various clinical manifestations with acute interstitial nephritis or Kawasaki disease symptoms. We reported the sibling cases who presented different clinical symptoms with Y. pstb infection in the same period.
The 5-year-old younger brother was hospitalized because of somnolence as well as fever, abdominal pain and watery diarrhea. After the admission, he was developed acute encephalopathy and non-oliguric renal failure. The 7-year-old older sister showed major 5 symptoms of Kawasaki disease. She was treated with only an antimicrobial agent without gamma globulin administration. The ileal end lymphadenopathy was depicted by abdominal ultrasonography in the older sister. Y. pstb was cultured from the feces, and significant elevation of the Y. pstb serum antibody was recognized in the sibling.
